How to choose a web designer in Miami.
Miami has no shortage of people who build websites: freelancers, studios, big agencies, a cousin who knows some code. Here is how to tell who will build the site your business actually needs.
Click through their real work.
Screenshots can be made to look good. Ask for links to live sites and use them on your phone. Does the site load fast? Can you reach the phone number in one tap? Does each site look like its own business, or like the same template with a new logo?
Ask who owns what.
Before you sign, ask who will own the domain, the website and the accounts it uses, like analytics. You should. If a designer keeps them in their own name, leaving later can mean losing your site.
Ask what’s included.
A business website needs more than nice pages. Check that these are part of the price, not extras:
- It works on phone, tablet and desktop.
- A form that sends every inquiry to your inbox.
- Analytics, so you can see who visits and what they do.
- Accessibility, so people who use a screen reader, larger text or a keyboard can use it.
- Privacy and terms pages.
Ask about languages.
In Miami, many of your customers may search in Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole. Ask whether the designer can build the site in the languages your customers speak, with a way for visitors to pick theirs. Read whether your website should be in more than one language.
Ask what happens after launch.
A website nobody finds won’t bring customers. Ask how the site will show up on Google, whether it is ready for ads, and who you call when something needs to change.
Red flags.
- They promise you the top spot on Google. No one can promise that, and anyone who does is guessing.
- They can’t show you live sites they built.
- They keep the domain or the site in their own name.
- The price comes from a package before they ask what your business does.
Many of the same questions apply when you hire for ads or SEO. Read questions to ask before hiring for Google Ads or SEO.
Questions.
How much does a web designer cost in Miami?
It depends on the site, from a simple template setup to a fully custom build. We quote each site to what the business needs, with no packages, so you see the price before we start.
Should I hire a freelancer or a studio?
Either can work. What matters is live work you can click through, clear ownership, and someone who answers when you need a change.
Does my web designer need to be in Miami?
No, but someone local knows the area and the languages your customers speak, and can meet you in person.
Can a web designer guarantee I rank first on Google?
No. No one controls Google. A good designer builds every page so Google can read it, and is honest about the rest.
